Introducing Bitterfence® Anti-Chew Poly Fence Mesh
Mar 28th 2025
Are deer or other animals eating your plants - and your fence? Our new patent pending Bitterfence® blends traditional plastic fence with EPA registered additives to deter damage from chewing animals.
Traditional fence to keep deer and other animals from eating plants is commonly known as deer fencing. The most popular type of deer fencing is polypropylene plastic because it’s strong, lightweight, and inexpensive. Until now, the drawback to poly deer fence has been that regardless of the strength or thickness of the poly, it’s not a chew deterent – especially to small animals like rabbits and other rodents.
Bitterfence® combines the properties of traditional poly deer fence with additives as a chew deterrent. The capsaicin inside the polypropylene is designed to discourage animals from chewing. But determined chewers like rabbits, moles, groundhogs, etc can often break through or chew past this deterrent given enough time and motivation. For a true chew barrier, you typically need chew resistanct materials like our 1" by 1" or smaller opening size welded wire fence.
Please note: Bitterfence® is a chew detterent, not a chew proof material. For rabbits and other small determined animals, please consider our welded wire fence.
