Still haven’t ordered your dog fence?
Well, let’s see if we can answer some of your questions.
Pet Playgrounds is a real physical dog fence kit. It is NOT an electric fence. It comes with all of the components you will need to create a safe and secure play space for your dog. Unlike invisible electric fences that only attempt to keep your dog in your yard, our physical dog fence stops predators – like coyotes from entering your enclosure. Our product as two main features that separate it from all other fencing systems.
Anti-Climb Feature: Unlike traditional rigid fences, our fence is a mesh-based fencing system that moves. That means dogs can’t use our fence like a ladder to climb over the way regular fencing system allow dogs to escape. When a dog tries to climb over, it simply flexes so no dog can get a grip.
Anti-Dig Feature: Even if you have a physical fence, dogs can dig under your fence to escape. We have eliminated this possibility by creating a dig guard that prevents dogs from digging under your fence. It is a strong steel mesh layer that is secured into the ground using our ultra-hold ground stakes.
Traditional fences (like chain link fences) act like ladders – and actually help dogs climb over. Our Dog Fence eliminates that possibility. The strength prevents your best friend from chewing through and the flexibility stops your dog from climbing over.
Many types of breeds love digging, especially terriers, beagles and huskies. Unlike traditional fences, our fence does not end when it meets the ground, it keeps on going…for about a foot. Our fence comes with a dig guard, which is created by using a strong 19 gauge steel mesh layer that is secured to the ground with ultra-hold ground stakes. Take a look at the video below because words can not accurately describe how our dig guard works.
We have designed our fence to be as unobtrusive as possible. Just like a window screen, when you step back 10-15 feet you can barely even see our fence. If you have lots of trees in your backyard, you can make our fence even more invisible by using your existing trees as post replacements. Check out the fence below. Can you even see it? View more pictures and videos here.
We offer 4 types of fences:
- 5 foot tall dog fence
- 6 foot tall dog fence
- 6 foot tall MAX Strength dog fence
- 7 foot tall MAX Strength dog fence
Didn’t you used to offer a 4 foot tall fence before?
Yes. However, we have decided to discontinue that height as it did not meet our 98% effective target as our other heights have either met or beat.
You can add gates to your Kit when you place your order. We offer 5 foot wide gates (which is perfect for most commercial lawn mowers), 8 foot wide gates and 14 foot driveway gates. In some cases you may decide to use your garage as part of your enclosure and may not need a gate, so we give you the flexibility to decide whether you want a gate and how many you want.
Our 1,100 pound break strength Polypropylene Mesh uses a patented process that makes it both incredibly strong and remarkably flexible. The strength prevents your best friend from chewing through and the flexibility stops your dog from climbing over. Learn more about the components we use.
Our Rubber Coated Welded Steel Wire Mesh is the main component of our dig guard. At 1,800 PSI of break strength, it’s nearly impossible for animals to bite, rip, or tear through. It is easily secured in place by using our ultra-hold ground stakes. Learn more about the components we use.
How does this compare to chain link? Will this hold up to my dog?
Chain link fences can only withstand about 1,500psi. That’s about half as strong as our Pet Playgrounds fence. Wood fences are even weaker – they can only withstand about 700psi.
More importantly, our fence isn’t just strong – it’s flexible which makes it so incredibly unique.

- 6 foot tall Kits are $9 per foot
- 6 foot tall MAX Kits are $12 per foot
- 7 foot tall MAX Kits are $14 per foot
To find out how much your Pet Playgrounds Dog Fence Kit will cost you, the fist step is to measure your yard. It only takes a few minutes.
What do most people get? The most popular Pet Playgrounds Dog Fence Kit is a 5 foot tall / 200 linear foot Kit with a standard 5×5 gate. That would cost you $1,850 for a DIY Kit. If you were to finance this dog fence kit, it would cost customers with good credit $121 a month through Affirm.
What about installation? Installation costs $6 per linear foot and $175 per gate. So, in our example installation would cost you an additional $1,375. Your total cost for our kit and installation would be $3,225 or $163 a month through Affirm.
What’s the next step? Measure your yard. It’s easy. Simply walk around the proposed Pet Playgrounds Play Space and count your steps. Walk normally – not heel to toe. Then multiply your steps by 2.5. Now you know how many linear feet you need to order. Questions? Watch our short video to see how easy it is to measure your yard or call us at 1-800-985-9202
The 1st step is to measure your yard. We ask customers to measure their own yard because it’s so incredibly easy and we are able to save roughly $450 on every Dog Fence we sell. Every penny we save is passed on to you.
Watch our short video on how to measure and then get an immediate on-screen quote.
But I want a professional to help me measure and plan my layout.
Shouldn’t an installer look at my yard before installation?
Our fence has been designed to be installed on virtually any type of property. It does not matter whether you have a rocky yard, a steep hill or another challenging obstacle. This means that installers do not have to come to your house prior to the day of the install. This saves time and money for our installers as well as yourself.
Yes. We have installers nationwide. Typically installation can be completed within 14-30 days of your order. To find out how long installation will take for your specific region code go here and enter your zip code.

Affirm is available only to shoppers residing in the United States. Affirm hopes to expand its services to customers outside the U.S. in the future.
What are Affirm’s fees?
The annual percentage rate (APR) on an Affirm loan ranges from 0% to 30%. Affirm discloses any required fees upfront before you make a purchase, so you know exactly what you will pay for your financing. Affirm does not charge any hidden fees, including annual fees.

Our fence works great for commercial applications like community dog parks and pet hotels. Our fence is incredibly popular for community dog parks because thousands of dollars can be saved by having volunteers assemble our easy to install DIY Kit. We recommend a 5 foot tall kit with a minimum of 300 linear feet for a dog park with 4 gates. This will allow you to create 2 separate play spaces (one for large dogs, one for small dogs) with a security gate system so dogs can’t run out when a new dog is entering the dog park.
Since commercial applications do not typically use a building to complete one side of your fence, you will need to add the free standing enclosure option, during the checkout process which will provide you with all of the components you will need to assemble your dog park.
You can purchase your commercial dog park and all the necessary components right here or learn more about how our fence can be used for commercial applications. Still have questions? Schedule a phone call with a Dog Fence Expert or give us a call right now at 1-800-985-9202.

Can I get a refund if my dog escapes?
There are so many variables that it would be impossible to effectively offer a warranty or a guarantee that your dog won’t escape. For example, if someone left the gate open by accident your dog would be able to escape. If you have a hurricane and a tree falls on your fence, your fence might be temporarily damaged and your dog could escape. In Canada, our customers have seen bears test the fence and although our fence is incredibly strong and flexible it was not designed to withstand a family of hungry bears looking for food. For these reasons and more we don’t offer a warranty or a guarantee but we will work with you fix any issues that you may have.
What you will get is the most reliable and affordable REAL dog fencing system in the world. We suggest ordering either a 6 foot tall MAX or a 7 foot MAX dog fence if your dog is a Houdini escape artist that is a jumper and a chewer.

Unfortunately, no. If you live in the United States you will receive our Pet Playgrounds Dog Fence Kit within 10 business days or less. If you live in Canada you will receive our Dog Fence Kit within 10-21 business days. Many of the components that we are shipping are oversized which makes expedited shipping incredibly cost prohibitive.
Invisible wireless dog fences just don’t work. Studies show that they fail nearly 30% of the time. Nearly a quarter of our customers are dog parents that initially tried to use an invisible electric fence – only to find out that it didn’t work for their dog.
At low levels the shock is too weak to stop your dog from leaving your yard to investigate nearby wildlife or another dog, and at high levels the dog may become scared or aggressive. Learn more about the dangers of invisible wireless fences and shock collars.
We do! If you are ordering 300 feet or more use the coupon code BESTDOGFENCE to save $100 on your order in addition to free shipping (a $350 value).
Do you offer any other discounts for seniors or vets?
We have tried to keep our prices low, and now with the option to finance our dog fence through Affirm we believe we are now the most affordable REAL dog fence in the United States and Canada.
Yes. Typically, coyotes enter fenced in yards by climbing over traditional chain link and wooden fences. Our fence prevents dogs, coyotes and other predators from climbing over your fence and entering your Pet Playgrounds Play Space because our fence physically move.
Other fences act like ladders that actually help coyotes climb over your fence, however our fence is flexible so coyotes can not get a grip to climb over. Watch our short video to learn how our fence can protect your dogs from wild coyotes.

We do not sell kits less than 100 linear feet. However, if you do not need to enclose your yard and simply need to work on a specific area you might be able to find what you are looking for on our accessories website, petplaygroundsmore.com – a place where you can purchase individual components. Please note that products sold on petplaygroundsmore.com do not come with a full kit, so you may need to purchase additional components or accessories from your local home goods store to complete your installation.
If budget is your concern, consider financing a larger dog fence.
Don’t worry. Our fence is strong, flexible and incredibly easy to repair.
Let’s compare what happens when a tree falls on wood or chain link fence compared to a Pet Playgrounds Dog Fence and how easy it is to repair a Pet Playgrounds Dog Fence.
Need to purchase accessories to repair your fence? Go here.
Awesome! We love customers that want to expand their fence or protect other areas. If you don’t need an entire kit but instead need certain components you can purchase them separately at petplaygroundsmore.com. Please note that these accessories were designed for existing Pet Playgrounds customers. Many parts require items that are included in our dog fence kits.
Your Kit comes with one Start post, one Stop (or end) post and two corner posts. If you use one side of your house to complete the fence (so essentially you are purchasing 3 sides for your fence – not 4), you will not have order anything extra. This is common and is default selection is perfect for 95% of customers. If you are creating an advanced layout (for example, a free standing enclosure) then you will need order 2 extra corner posts.
Our full installation video can be seen at petplaygrounds.com/install. If you have questions call our support line at (866) 985-8547
Nope. Our standard 5 and 6 foot fences come with 2 layers, and our 6 and 7 foot MAX Strength fences come with 3 layers. The first layer that you will install is a metal mesh layer that functions as both the dig guard and the chew guard. It is 4 foot tall, even when you purchase a 5 or 6 foot tall fence. The reason for this is that the second layer, which is the polypropylene mesh is installed right on top of this layer, and needs to be at the top of the fence by itself to allow the fence to physically move. This is what makes our fence so difficult to climb.

In the 6 months since the new fence was installed, there have been ZERO escapes, and believe me, our dog has tried.
Dr. Adam BoardmanVeterinarianDr. Adam BoardmanVeterinarianOne of our dogs is an escape artist and kept escaping our fenced in yard. Over the fence, under the fence, she would find a way to get out to chase the deer running through the woods behind our house. Mostly, we were worried about her safety but it was also very embarrassing. I am a local veterinarian and I was constantly driving through the neighborhood calling for my lost dog. Ah, the irony. I made modifications to our fence every time our dog exploited one of it’s many weaknesses. Our backyard resembled a prison yard, and still our dog managed to find ways to escape. We considered the electric fence but decided against it. Although effective for many pets, I did not think it would be effective for our dog. Her prey drive is just too strong. Also, I simply don’t like the idea of shocking my pet. After an exhaustive search on the internet, we discovered Pet Playgrounds. They were the only fencing company that specifically focused on fencing for dogs and to our surprise, was willing to take a job anywhere in New England (they are based out of Connecticut and we live in Massachusetts). Victor Boemmels was very professional and provided accurate estimates for the work. They allowed me to visit a fence installation for another client (with her permission of course) so I could see their product in person. At installation they were on time (actually early) and worked hard even though it was November and cold. The hard ground didn’t stop them at all. They incorporated my existing fencing and even trees along the fence line with the new fencing and it looks fantastic. This showed creativity and an understanding that all properties are different. It is much more visually appealing than what I had tried to do. In the 6 months since the new fence was installed, there have been ZERO escapes, and believe me, our dog has tried. I am very thankful what Victor and Pet Playgrounds were able to do for us and would recommend them to any pet owner to keep their pet safely in their yard.

At half the cost of chain link, it was within our budget including installation. The fence is sturdy, and can be installed over any terrain.
Stephanie WilliamsDog TrainerStephanie WilliamsDog TrainerAfter a long wait, I finally got my backyard fenced in for my dogs last week. I chose a non-electric, low visibility fence by Pet Playgrounds, a local installer here in CT. They ship to anywhere in the US, but are based in West Haven, so we opted to have our fence professionally installed.
Choosing a fence proved to be a hot button issue in my house. My husband wanted chain link or stockade, but I felt those options were too costly. Electric fences are non-obstructive in terms of your view, but they have several cons. Let's look at the traditional options first:
Chain link fence:
This option proved to be very costly. We were quoted on average $6500 to $7000 for 300 linear feet. I also personally dislike the look of chain link fence.Stockade fence:
This option also proved to be too costly for us. We were quoted at $5500 for wood stockade fence. Maintenance is an issue as well. Wood rots over time. Vinyl was out of the question in terms of cost.Electric fence:
This option is low cost, and does not obstruct any view. However, there are several cons to electric fences that I have encountered as a pet dog trainer. I have met dogs who are afraid to go out into their yard at all due to the possibility of the shock. I have met dogs who are afraid to leave their yards at all for the same reason, meaning they wouldn't leave the yard at all, not even for a walk. Some wouldn't even get into the car to leave. Electric fences do not keep other animals out of your yard either. Stray dogs, coyotes, etc. can wander in. I have met dogs who were attacked this way. I have also met dogs who have opted to take the shock and cross the electric fence line, because whatever was outside the yard (squirrel, other dog, etc.) was worth it to them. I have also met dogs who have become dog or human reactive from running along the fence line when people or dogs pass by. For these reasons, and because I personally prefer not to use shock collars on my dogs, electric fencing was not an option.Pet Playgrounds poly fence was the perfect solution. At half the cost of chain link, it was within our budget including installation. The fence is sturdy, and can be installed over any terrain. The fence is designed to stake into the ground with several inches of excess, which prevents digging. The fence is six feet tall, so there’s no worry that a particularly athletic or intrepid dog would jump or climb out. The fence blends in wonderfully with the woods behind our house. We are extremely pleased with the results, and so are our dogs! You can see the fence in the background of the picture below. It blends in, but is sturdy and safe. If you are ready to fence in your yard, I highly recommend Pet Playgrounds!
